EN Baptism of Adults

Not only young children, but also adults of all ages are baptised. More than a hundred adult men and women are baptised in the Archdiocese of Prague every year. Through baptism, man was united to God and to His work of salvation for all those who desire the fullness of life. Therefore, the reception of this sacrament is one of the most important moments in a person’s life. It is important to prepare for it properly.

The process of preparing to receive the baptism begins with a short period of enquiry: you can explore what you are seeking. The next step is the Catechumenate, an extended period during which the candidates are given suitable pastoral formation and guidance, aimed at training them in the Christian life. The preparation for the baptism of an adult adheres to the common rules of the Archdiocese of Prague and lasts one or two years.
